On Sunday 19th May 2024 at Broadlands Estate, The Barratt Homes Relay Marathon returns for the 10th year. Organised by the Rotary Club of Romsey Test, the Marathon is a unique community event held in the spring of each year. Open to the whole community, the event raises funds and awareness for local charities and other good causes.
The Relay Marathon gives an opportunity for anyone to take part in a team of up to 10 runners who will collectively run 26miles and 385yards. Each runner will run two circuits of 1.3 miles to complete their leg of the course before handing the baton to their teammate. Every penny the Teams raise goes to charities and good causes of their choice, with the whole entry fee supporting Rotary's work.
Sam ran this relay in 2022 with a team, not even a month before her diagnosis...quite unbelievable now, but that was Sam!
This year the Aviva Health Team running on behalf of Sam are raising money for The Cedar School - a maintained special school in Southampton for children with complex physical, health and learning difficulties. Sam’s youngest son, Andrew, attends the school and loves it! He is super happy there and it’s an amazing place for children with special needs.
